About
I began practicing yoga 10 years ago at Denison University in Ohio, where the school offered free Ashtanga yoga classes. When I moved to rural Arkansas after college, finding a yoga studio became a challenge. I drove an hour to the nearest yoga studio once a week, every week, for three years. This experience helped me appreciate my time flowing with other yogis in the studio. In addition, it helped me deepen my independent yoga practice. After my time in Arkansas, I moved to Austin, Texas, where I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training through CorePower yoga.
I now live in Madison, Wisconsin, where I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Environmental Science, with a focus on improving global food security in the face of climate change. In addition to loving yoga, I enjoy spending time playing with my two adorable pups, cooking with my housemates, hiking through forests, and reading science fiction books.
I craft yoga classes that help my students build the strength, balance, and flexibility to thrive both on and off their mats. I encourage my students to take chances, test their limits, breathe deeply, and have fun. I have advanced experience with arm balance poses, and I enjoy bringing some "fly time" and core work into each class.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am offering outdoor yoga classes from my home, but I am also open to lead private or physically distanced group classes outside. Please contact me using the information at the end of this page for more details!

Testimonials
"I have been practicing yoga for 20 years, and Colleen is easily one of the best yoga teachers I have had the pleasure of practicing with. Her flows are really well thought out, playful, and fun! She does a phenomenal job of building in strength and heat into her sessions while still stretching out tight muscles.
Colleen is particularly brilliant at introducing new and challenging peak postures to newer yogis and breaking them down into accessible steps. It isn't uncommon in her classes to see a student fly up into crow for the first time with a huge smile on their face.
In addition to her asana knowledge, Colleen brings intention and meditation to so many of her classes. She has a command of the yoga sutras and often shares other inspiring quotes/passages from them and other sources in class. She leaves space for students to reflect on their own intention as we move through class, and her vibrant, sparkling energy is wonderful. It has been such a joy to practice with such a brilliant teacher, and I'm always excited to take another class!"

"I am deeply grateful to have been introduced to the art of yoga by Colleen.
As many people around the world, I was having a very hard time navigating through the pandemic. Being invited and instructed by Colleen made my yoga journey easy and infatuating.
Her teachings not only helped me build a physical practice, but they also provided a spiritual compass that got me more in-touch with myself. She possesses the talent of sensitivity, which allows her to know exactly what you need and how to help you accomplish your goal. I like to think that her practice has made me a better person, not only for the world but with my own self too."

"I’ve been practicing yoga for more than ten years and COVID put a quick end to in-person practice. Colleen just happened to live across the street and I was welcomed to practice with her.
I was so thankful for the community, but had no idea how much I would learn. Colleen has helped me with many goals I’ve had for my practice (handstand - is been trying for 5 years) all while making it an enjoyable and incredibly relaxing experience."

I have dealt with chronic ankle injury for almost a decade which often left me feeling anxious in balance poses. Colleen's instruction and care left me feeling confident with myself. Also, she has great energy!
